This year marked an impressive level of growth for the Ca$h for Color program, awarding over $135,500 in cash and prizes to competitors and stallion owners alike.
In the heart of the vibrant equestrian community, stallion owners are creating a legacy of success, transparency, and shared passion. Michelle, the driving force behind the program, expresses her gratitude for the collaborative effort, especially from co-found, friend, and fellow stallion owner, Kate Joos, DVM, and fellow equestrian Karla Jones. Together, they ensure that the program runs seamlessly, from social media updates to sponsorships and administrative duties.
"The mission of the program is to promote the Color Breeds and incentivize breeding to all of the enrolled stallions. Our goal is to provide a platform which showcases breeders and non-pros alike. Participants have the opportunity to earn CA$H and prizes while having fun with their families, friends, and horses," explains Michelle Johnston.

The CA$H FOR COLOR program stands out for its substance, meticulous planning, and years of experience, all contributing to a continued positive impact on the equine industry. Stallion owners play a pivotal role by paying an enrollment fee and donating a breeding Appaloosa, Buckskin, Paint, Pinto, Palomino, or Roan stallion, all with full-color registration.
Stallion Enrollment opens for new additions until June 30th each year, closing temporarily until the show concludes in November. Come mid-November, stallion services become available for purchase at 50% of the advertised stud fee, accompanied by a $125 administration fee. To explore the array of available stallions, a visit to the CA$H FOR COLOR Facebook page or the official website, www.cashforcolor.com, is a must.
Offspring of enrolled stallions, regardless of age, can be nominated to the program for a one-time $200 fee that transfers with ownership. The classes offered span from yearling to Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, and Ranch on the Rail, catering to both Open and Non-Pro riders. A noteworthy 90% of the payout goes to the horse owner, demonstrating CA$H FOR COLOR's commitment to rewarding its participants.
The program's stellar performance is evident in the impressive stallion owner paybacks. In its inaugural year in November 2021, CA$H FOR COLOR awarded over $51,000 in cash and prizes. Fast forward to 2023, and the program's growth is nothing short of phenomenal, reaching an awarded total of over $135,000. The cumulative total now exceeds a remarkable $298,000 in cash and prizes to date.
Michelle expresses gratitude for the invaluable support from sponsors, turning a good show into a GREAT SHOW. Sponsors play a crucial role in making CA$H FOR COLOR a success, and their generosity is acknowledged with each exhibitor receiving a goody bag filled with sponsor products and gift certificates.
For more details on sponsors, classes, and everything CA$H FOR COLOR, visit their website: www.cashforcolor.com. Stay connected by following "CA$H FOR COLOR" on Facebook and be part of a community where every exhibitor leaves the arena not just with memories, but with tangible rewards.

Founder, StallionCompare.com | Creative Director
Natashya, the founder of StallionCompare.com, is a dynamic force in both the equine and creative industries. As a lifelong equestrian, Natashya’s journey with horses began with Quarter Horses in her hometown in British Columbia, Canada. During her college years she took a brief (and eye opening) hiatus from Quarter Horses to work in the Thoroughbred industry – returning to the AQHA circuit as a young adult. Natashya was also able to reconnect with the quarter horse industry through design. She worked with former owners of Pleasurehorse.com and Show Horse Today on their design needs prior to Robyn Duplisea purchasing the business. Natashya also worked at Horse Canada (HPG) as the Creative Director for many monthly, quarterly, and annual equine magazines. Her passion (read: obsession) for breeding, genetics, and equine pedigrees ran ever-increasingly deep, which lead her to create StallionCompare.com.
Beyond her equine pursuits, Natashya is the Creative Director & Co-Founder of a leading design agency known for its boutique, customer-focused approach. With her expertise, she blends creativity and technology to make a lasting impact in both horse breeding and design.
