Sep 10, 2025 Press Release
The Western performance horse industry has a new reason to celebrate as Stevie Rey Von, the 2012 stallion by Metallic Cat and out of Miss Ella Rey (by Dual Rey), officially surpassed the $20 million progeny earnings milestone, according to the American Quarter Horse Association’s QData database.
At only 12 years of age, this marks a defining achievement for the young sire, cementing his place among the industry’s elite stallions far earlier than most.
Stevie Rey Von has proven himself not just as a competitor, but as a game-changing sire. His own show career yielded $420,903 in lifetime earnings, highlighted by being the only living stallion in NCHA Open Futurity history to be an NCHA Open Futurity Champion, sired be an NCHA Open Futurity Champion, and to have sired an NCHA Open Futurity Champion.
In 2021, his legacy expanded even further when a Stevie foal captured the NCHA Futurity Championship. That win made history: Stevie Rey Von became the only stallion to be sired by an NCHA Futurity Champion, win the Futurity himself, and sire another Futurity Champion.
While his foundation is firmly in cutting, Stevie’s influence extends far beyond. His offspring are excelling in cow horse and roping arenas, underscoring the versatility of his bloodlines. His highest earning progeny to date has come from the roping pen, proving his ability to sire champions across multiple disciplines.
He currently leads QData’s 2025 sire rankings across all events, with more than $4.67 million in progeny earnings in just the first nine months of the year. He also stands as one of the youngest stallions near the top of the All-Time Stallion Rankings.
In August 2025, Stevie Rey Von was acquired by Jason and Kisha Itkin of Theorem Ranch. The couple immediately reaffirmed their commitment to both the stallion and the sport by retaining his established team, continuing to stand him at Beau Galyean Stallion Services in Fort Worth, Texas.
"Hitting the $20 million mark as a sire is a huge milestone for Stevie Rey Von,” said Kisha Itkin. “Reaching it at just 12 years old, and with success beyond cutting, makes it even more meaningful. What really excites us is that this is only the beginning—his colts and fillies are just starting to hit their stride, and there’s so much more to come."
"We believe Stevie’s foundational impact will only grow from here. For our family, being part of his story isn’t just about honoring his legacy—it’s about helping the sport expand, bringing in new fans, and creating more opportunities for everyone who loves Western performance horses like we do,” added Jason.
At only 12 years old, Stevie Rey Von’s story is still being written. With his foals continuing to mature and excel across multiple arenas, his impact is only expected to grow. As the Itkins, Galyean, and his supporters put it: this milestone isn’t an endpoint—it’s a launching pad.
With his combination of pedigree, personal achievements, and already record-setting progeny earnings, Stevie Rey Von is proving himself not just a sire of champions, but a stallion whose influence will shape the Western performance horse industry for generations to come.
