The gavel has fallen in Tulsa, and another group of promising young prospects has made its way through the NSBA Markel Insurance Breeders Championship Futurity Yearling Sale. Held in conjunction with the 2026 NSBA World Championship Show and Breeders Championship Futurity, the annual sale brings together yearlings representing some of the most recognizable bloodlines in the industry, offering buyers an opportunity to invest in prospects bred with the show pen in mind.
For breeders, owners and pedigree enthusiasts, the sale also provides an interesting snapshot of the market. Which sire lines commanded the strongest prices? Which maternal families attracted buyers? How did fillies compare with colts and geldings? And which yearlings ultimately rose to the top of the sale?
StallionCompare followed the sale live and recorded the prices announced as the yearlings made their way through the sale ring. Below, we take a closer look at the night's high sellers, pedigrees and preliminary sale statistics.
Editor's Note: Prices reported in this article reflect the final prices observed during the live sale broadcast. At the time of publication, StallionCompare has not independently confirmed whether every lot resulted in a completed sale. Horses that did not meet reserve or were otherwise recorded as no-sales may therefore be represented until official sale results are available.

Which Sires Led the Sale?
One of the most interesting ways to examine a yearling sale is through the stallions represented. Ranked by total observed value, Makin Me Willy Wild led the 2026 sale among sires represented by the recorded results, with four yearlings combining for $194,000 and an average observed price of $48,500. Machine Made followed closely with the largest group among the top five, seven yearlings accounting for $187,750, while No Doubt Im Lazy ranked third by gross and sired the $87,000 sale topper, Hide The Cookis.
| Rank | Sire | Yearlings | Total Observed Value | Average | Highest Seller |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Makin Me Willy Wild | 4 | $194,000 | $48,500.00 | Makin Em Talk, $82,000 |
| 2 | Machine Made | 7 | $187,750 | $26,821.43 | All Shoook Up, $52,000 |
| 3 | No Doubt Im Lazy | 4 | $145,000 | $36,250.00 | Hide The Cookis, $87,000 |
| 4 | Batt Man | 5 | $95,500 | $19,100.00 | Pozion Ivy, $50,000 |
| 5 | Madefourit | 2 | $95,000 | $47,500.00 | To Die Four, $59,000 |
| 6 | Fiire N Ice | 3 | $84,500 | $28,166.67 | Icy How U Holiday, $37,000 |
| 7 | RL Best of Sudden | 2 | $77,000 | $38,500.00 | Suddenly Smitten, $50,000 |
| 8 | The Lopin Machine | 4 | $68,000 | $17,000.00 | Rev Up Your Style, $27,500 |
| 9 | VS Code Red | 1 | $45,000 | $45,000.00 | The Mouse Code, $45,000 |
| 10 | A Sudden Holiday | 1 | $40,000 | $40,000.00 | Holiday To Remember, $40,000 |
The Top 10 also show that there was more than one way for a sire to make an impact on the sale. Makin Me Willy Wild combined volume with strength at the upper end, averaging $48,500 across four yearlings and producing the $82,000 second-highest observed seller, Makin Em Talk. Machine Made, meanwhile, had considerably more representation: seven yearlings and $187,750 in combined observed value.
Madefourit stood out on a smaller sample. His two yearlings, To Die Four at $59,000 and Foureign Currency at $36,000, averaged $47,500, putting him just $1,000 behind Makin Me Willy Wild’s average among the leading sires. RL Best Of Sudden likewise averaged a strong $38,500 from two yearlings.
No Doubt Im Lazy’s group was led by the horse that ultimately commanded the evening’s highest observed price. Hide The Cookis, out of The Cooki Monster, brought $87,000, helping No Doubt Im Lazy’s four yearlings reach $145,000 in combined observed value.
Together, the results give us a broader view than the sale topper alone. Some stallions reached the top of the rankings through multiple well-received offerings, while others were represented by smaller groups that commanded particularly strong averages. Both offer useful context when looking at which sire lines caught buyers’ attention in the 2026 sale.
Note: Q/P designations shown in the sale results were consolidated under each stallion’s name for these sire-level calculations. Statistics are based on the 54 observed prices recorded by StallionCompare during the live sale and should be considered preliminary until completed-sale status is independently confirmed.
The Maternal Side
The sire may be the first name many people recognize in a sale catalogue, but the 2026 results offered another opportunity to look deeper into the pedigrees and at the mares and maternal families behind the yearlings. Among the evening’s higher observed prices, several familiar names appeared repeatedly on the bottom side.
| Rank | Dam | Yearlings | Total Observed Value | Average | Highest Seller |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Itsa Southern Belle | 2 | $95,000 | $47,500 | To Die Four, $59,000 |
| 2 | The Cooki Monster | 1 | $87,000 | $87,000 | Hide The Cookis, $87,000 |
| 3 | Focus On The Good | 1 | $82,000 | $82,000 | Makin Em Talk, $82,000 |
| 4 | Two Kriketsonthewall | 1 | $75,000 | $75,000 | Krickets R Wild, $75,000 |
| 5 | Shes Immortal | 1 | $52,000 | $52,000 | All Shoook Up, $52,000 |
| 6 | Bleu Ivy | 1 | $50,000 | $50,000 | Pozion Ivy, $50,000 |
| 7 | Huntinfor Valentines | 1 | $50,000 | $50,000 | Suddenly Smitten, $50,000 |
| 8 | Justa Lazy Mouse | 1 | $45,000 | $45,000 | The Mouse Code, $45,000 |
| 9 | Strutin For Jackie | 1 | $40,000 | $40,000 | Ive Made It, $40,000 |
| 10 | Lacys Pryde | 1 | $40,000 | $40,000 | Holiday To Remember, $40,000 |
The sire may be the first name many people recognize in a sale catalogue, but the 2026 NSBA Markel Yearling Sale results offered another opportunity to look deeper into the pedigrees and at the mares behind the yearlings. Among the evening’s higher observed prices, several familiar maternal families rose to the top, while one mare accomplished something no other dam in the Top 10 did: she sent two high-selling yearlings through the ring.
Two at the Top for Itsa Southern Belle
Itsa Southern Belle emerged as the sale’s leading dam by combined observed value, with two Madefourit yearlings accounting for $95,000. To Die Four brought $59,000, while his full sibling Foureign Currency brought $36,000.
That distinction is worth noting. While most of the mares at the top of the rankings were represented by a single yearling, Itsa Southern Belle reached the No. 1 position through two separate offerings. A daughter of Its A Southern Thing, her results gave buyers two opportunities to invest in the same Madefourit x Itsa Southern Belle cross and provided one of the clearest maternal stories of the sale.
Familiar Names One Generation Back
Looking beyond the individual dams reveals another interesting layer. Several established performance sires appeared again and again as damsires, demonstrating how their influence is moving into the next generation through their daughters.
RL Best Of Sudden was particularly prominent. His daughters produced Krickets R Wild ($75,000), Pozion Ivy ($50,000), Rev Up Your Style ($27,500), Nexxt Thing You Know ($21,000), Rock On Rocco ($20,000), A Slott Machine ($17,500), Born To B Lopin ($14,000) and Nonsufficient Funds ($6,500). Together, those eight yearlings represented $231,250 in observed sale value.
Machine Made also made a notable appearance on the maternal side, beginning with the highest observed seller of the entire sale. Hide The Cookis, the $87,000 sale topper by No Doubt Im Lazy, is out of The Cooki Monster, a daughter of Machine Made. Machine Made was also the damsire of GTG Cant Stop Me ($15,000), Gypsy Heart ($15,000), Tennessee Whiskey ($12,500) and Flat Made Machine ($11,700), bringing the combined observed value of those five yearlings to $141,200.
The second-highest observed seller brought another established maternal influence into the conversation. Makin Em Talk, at $82,000, is out of Focus On The Good, a daughter of Zippos Mr Good Bar. Elsewhere in the catalogue, names including Only In The Moonlite, Lazy Loper, VS Code Red, Batt Man, Allocate Your Assets, Heart Stoppin and Radical Rodder could also be found on the maternal side of the pedigrees.
For breeders, that may be one of the more interesting stories hidden within the sale results. Stallions that once shaped the show pen as sires are increasingly appearing one generation back, where their daughters are now producing the young horses attracting attention from today’s buyers.
The sire line may command plenty of attention when a yearling enters the ring, but the 2026 results offered another reminder to look at the entire pedigree. The mares behind these yearlings, and the stallions behind those mares, remain an important part of what the market is buying.

What the 2026 Sale Tells Us
Beyond the individual high sellers, the NSBA Markel Yearling Sale provides an interesting annual look at where buyers are placing their confidence.
This is where we can explore the story hidden within the numbers: which stallions were particularly well received, which maternal families repeatedly attracted attention, whether buyers showed a preference for fillies or colts, and how the upper end of the market compared with the sale as a whole.
For tonight, however, the focus belongs to the yearlings, breeders, consignors and buyers who made the 2026 sale possible. For many of these young horses, the trip through the sale ring represents only the beginning. The next chapter will be written in training barns and, eventually, show pens across the country.
And with the pedigrees represented in Tulsa tonight, there will be plenty worth watching.
