Feature Release v2.0

StallionCompare has been rebuilt from the ground up. Version 2.0 is a brand-new site: every page has been redesigned, it’s faster, and it works properly on your phone. Here’s everything that’s new for you.

1.0    A whole new StallionCompare

Every page has a fresh, cleaner design that puts the stallions first: bigger photos, clearer text and more room to breathe. Under the hood the site is built new, so pages load faster, even the big ones with full pedigrees and results.

2.0    Easier to get around

The menu now opens as a panel with every part of the site in one place, and search sits right in the header. On your phone there’s a bar along the bottom of the screen for Home, Stallions, Shows and Compare, so the places you use most are always one tap away. Scrolling is smooth everywhere, and sliders can be dragged or swiped.

3.0    Stallion pages, rebuilt

Each stallion page now opens with the essentials at a glance, then gives you everything in one place: breeding fees and options, genetics, Super Sires rankings, programs and nominations, progeny, show results, related articles and answers to common questions. The new contact card lists everyone involved with the stallion (owner, standing farm, breeding manager) with buttons to email, call or visit their website.

4.0    A better pedigree chart

The four-generation pedigree has been redrawn so it’s easier to read on any screen. Horses that appear more than once in a pedigree are now marked with a coloured dot, and a legend under the chart shows each repeated ancestor and how much of the pedigree they make up. Every horse in a pedigree is still a link to its own page.

Pages affected: stallion pages, horse pages

5.0    Similar stallions

At the bottom of every stallion page you’ll find stallions similar to the one you’re looking at, in a slider you can swipe through, with a full page of matches when you want to see more.

Pages affected: stallion pages

6.0    Booked full, by breeding method

When a stallion’s book is full, we now show it by breeding method: fresh/cooled, frozen or ICSI. So you can see at a glance whether a stallion is still available the way you want to breed.

Pages affected: stallion pages, Stallions at Stud

7.0    Compare, redesigned

Comparing stallions side by side is simpler: choose your stallions, then line up fees, pedigree, genetics and performance in one table.

8.0    Show results and Super Sires

Show results, class results and Super Sires standings and results have all been redesigned. On your phone, results tables now scroll sideways instead of squeezing every column together, so they’re readable on any screen.

Pages affected: Show Results, class results, Super Sires

9.0    A better read

Articles have a new reading layout with photos and tables that fit your screen, and related stories to read next.

Pages affected: articles

10.0    In Memoriam, and a horse to honour

Our tributes have a new home in In Memoriam. And for the first time, you can tell us about a horse who has passed away: share their story and a photo or two through the new Submit a horse to honour form, and our team will write a tribute.

Pages affected: In Memoriam, obituaries, home page

11.0    Submitting your stallion or horse is easier

The Submit a Stallion and Submit a Horse forms are clearer: tick boxes instead of hard-to-use lists, a short note on what’s required, and if anything is missing, a list at the top of the form tells you exactly what and takes you to it. Photos straight from your phone (including iPhone photos) up to 10 MB each are welcome.

Pages affected: Submit a Stallion, Submit a Horse, Contact us

12.0    Share with a picture

Share any stallion, horse, article, obituary, program or result on Facebook, in a text message or by email, and it now shows a proper preview with a photo and the key details.

Pages affected: every shareable page

13.0    Credit where it’s due

Photographers are now credited under their photos. If you’re the photographer, you can add your credit or ask for a photo to be removed right from the photo, with the “Add your photo credit” and “Request removal” links.

Pages affected: every page with photos

14.0    Your privacy, your choice

15.0    Built for everyone

The new site works with a keyboard and screen readers, uses stronger colour contrast, and respects your device’s reduced-motion setting.

That’s version 2.0, and there’s plenty more on the way. Have an idea, or spot something that isn’t right? Let us know.
