Some horse sales are simply auctions. Others become gatherings where breeders, trainers, consignors, and buyers come together to celebrate the horses that represent years of careful breeding, training, and preparation.
The 2026 Old West Rope Horse Sale, hosted by Old West Futurities, was one such event. Held on Friday, June 19, at the Wasatch County Event Complex in Heber City, Utah, the exclusive evening sale brought together a carefully selected offering of rope horse prospects and proven performers from respected breeding programs across the Western performance horse industry.
Throughout the evening, buyers had the opportunity to evaluate horses backed by influential bloodlines while witnessing the craftsmanship and horsemanship that define the sport. More than a showcase of exceptional horses, the sale celebrated the breeders, trainers, and consignors whose dedication continues to shape the future of the rope horse industry.
The following recap explores the evening’s standout horses, complete sale results, and the influential pedigrees that helped shape the 2026 Old West Rope Horse Sale.
The Evening’s Standout Horses
Although quality was evident throughout the catalog, several horses naturally emerged as the headline makers of the evening. From a seven-figure sale topper to outstanding horses backed by proven performance pedigrees, the highest sellers reflected the caliber of horses presented at this year’s event.
Leading the sale was Hip 22, Painted Stevie Rey, a 2023 black stallion consigned by David Miller & Dana Russell. Sired by Stevie Rey Von and out of Painted Wine Wagon by PYC Paint Your Wagon, the horse topped the sale at $1,000,000, standing alone as the evening’s only seven-figure offering.
Following closely behind was Hip 24, Relentless Empire, a 2023 sorrel mare consigned by Wittwer Performance Horses & Relentless Remuda. By Show Me The Buckles and out of Relentless Glory, a daughter of Metallic Cat, the mare commanded a final bid of $900,000, highlighting the continued demand for exceptional performance pedigrees.
The third-highest selling price of the evening was $400,000, achieved by two exceptional 2023 sorrel mares. Hip 38, Show Me Relentless, consigned by Relentless Remuda & Solo Select, is by Show Me The Buckles and out of Bucks For Bullet by Frenchmans Bullet. Sharing the distinction was Hip 40, Sunset Blvd, consigned by Solo Select & Relentless Remuda, another daughter of Show Me The Buckles, out of Insane For Fame by Dash Ta Fame.
Together, these standout horses reflected the exceptional quality found throughout the catalog while showcasing the strength of proven breeding programs and the dedication of the consignors who presented them at this year’s Old West Rope Horse Sale.
Every Hip Finds a Home
While the top sellers captured much of the attention, they represented only part of the story. One of the strongest indicators of the sale’s overall success was the consistent demand shown throughout the evening. Interest remained steady from the opening horse to the final hip, and by the close of the auction, every horse in the catalog had successfully found a new owner.

It also celebrated the breeders, trainers, and consignors whose dedication brought each horse to Heber City and onto one of the event’s most anticipated stages.
