A sale catalog may be filled with names, numbers, and pedigrees, but every entry represents years of planning, preparation, and breeding decisions made long before a horse enters the ring. Behind each hip number is a combination of genetics, training, and the people who helped shape the horse standing before buyers.
Some horses arrive with accomplishments already behind them, while others represent the next opportunity waiting to unfold. From proven individuals to young prospects and future breeding prospects, the catalog reflected the many stages that continue shaping the performance horse industry.
The 2026 July Performance Horse Sale by 817 Horse Sales, held on July 5, brought these offerings together in one catalog. Beyond the final bids, Stallion Compare takes a closer look at the horses that stood out, the pedigrees that shaped them, and the bloodlines continuing to influence the future of the performance horse industry.
The Sale’s Six-Figure Standouts
Among the many horses presented at the 2026 July Performance Horse Sale, two offerings separated themselves when the final bids were called. As the only six-figure sellers of the event, these horses represented the highest buyer response of the sale while highlighting the continued demand for individuals backed by respected pedigrees and proven performance genetics.
Leading the sale was Hip #415, Sovereyn, a 2023 sorrel mare consigned by Wesley Galyean, which commanded the top bid of $250,000. Owned by Randy Kelley and bred by Wesley & Kristen Galyean, the AQHA/APHA mare is by Badboonarising and out of Button Down Supercat by Dual Rey.
Sovereyn carried a pedigree built around some of the most influential names in modern cutting and performance horse breeding. With Badboonarising on the top side and Dual Rey on the bottom side, her bloodlines combine generations of proven performance influence, creating an opportunity that attracted attention from breeders and competitors alike.
Following as the second-highest seller was Hip #503, Souljaa Boy, a 2020 red roan stallion selling for $134,500. Owned by Rancho El Zueno and bred by Mark Pearson, the AQHA/APHA stallion is by Stevie Rey Von and out of Pepto Flo by Peptoboonsmal.
Souljaa Boy represented a pedigree connecting two highly respected performance horse families. The combination of Stevie Rey Von, a son of the influential Metallic Cat, and Peptoboonsmal, one of the most recognized names in cutting horse history, reflected the depth of genetics represented throughout the catalog.
Together, Sovereyn and Souljaa Boy represented the top end of the 2026 July Performance Horse Sale, highlighting the continued interest in horses carrying respected bloodlines and the potential to make an impact in future programs.
More Than Two Big Bids
While the six-figure sellers represented the highest bids of the 2026 July Performance Horse Sale, they were only one part of the catalog’s overall story. From experienced individuals to developing prospects and future breeding opportunities, the sale featured horses representing different stages of the performance horse journey.
Beyond the headline sellers, the complete sold results reveal the full depth of the 2026 July Performance Horse Sale by 817 Horse Sales.

The Stallions Pulling the Strings
A horse’s story begins long before it enters the ring.
Behind every entry is a sire whose influence helped shape the qualities breeders and buyers continue to seek—from athletic ability and trainability to the characteristics passed through generations.
The 2026 July Performance Horse Sale featured a diverse group of stallions representing some of the most recognized names in the performance horse industry. From established sires with proven influence to younger names continuing to build their legacy, these stallions provided the foundation behind many of the horses presented in the catalog.

The Other Half of the Equation

While stallions often receive the spotlight, the mares behind these horses represent the other half of the equation—the maternal families, breeding decisions, and generations of influence that help shape each individual.
The 2026 July Performance Horse Sale featured horses from a wide range of dam lines, showcasing the importance of strong female families throughout the performance horse industry. Behind every cross was a mare contributing her own history, genetics, and potential to the next generation.

The Legends Hiding One Generation Back
Looking deeper into a pedigree often reveals the names that helped shape everything that came before.
Beyond the sire and dam, the damsire adds another layer of influence—connecting each horse to previous generations of performance, athletic ability, and proven genetics.
The 2026 July Performance Horse Sale featured horses tracing back to many respected names through their maternal lines, showing how influential bloodlines continue to appear across generations.

Because great pedigrees are rarely built by one generation alone. They are shaped over time, with each name carrying a piece of the story forward.
The Story Moves Forward
A sale lasts only a few hours. The impact of the horses sold can last for generations.
The 2026 July Performance Horse Sale brought together more than a group of horses—it brought together years of breeding decisions, careful preparation, and the belief in what each horse could become.
From established individuals to young prospects, every offering represented a different point in the journey. The final bids marked a transition, but the real stories begin after the horses leave the ring.
For Stallion Compare, those stories are what matter most: the pedigrees behind the horses, the people behind the programs, and the moments that shape the future of the performance horse industry.
