Orren Mixer had just completed a painting of Double L Straw, he was asked by the AQHA for a Logo Image to represent the American Quarter Horse, and Double L Straw`s image is the one used on all the AQHA literature you see today. The original painting was owned by Joel L. Coffey, one time ranch manager for Goddard Ranch, he later bought Double L Straw, sold in 1987 to Croy/Parham QHs in Conyers, Ga. at the age of 22 years, where he sired 37 more foals.
