With heavy hearts, we share the passing of the remarkable mare, Espressolina (2003–2025). Known lovingly as “Mesa” or “May May,” she was owned and cherished by Hillside Performance Horses, where her presence shaped not only a breeding program, but the lives of all who had the privilege to know her.
Espressolina was a horse of uncommon quality and kindness — the kind who gave everything in the show pen and gave even more in the quiet moments at home. She was a teacher, a steady partner, and an irreplaceable part of her family. As her owner, Lindsey Victorson, shared, “She taught me so much, was great in and out of the show pen, raised some phenomenal babies, and was starting to teach my boys to ride... you will be missed beyond measure sweet girl.”
As a broodmare, Espressolina’s influence will endure for generations. She produced not only great family horses and outstanding show partners, but also sires who are carrying her legacy forward. Among them is her accomplished son, Spookin Up Dust, a testament to the strength of her genetics and the depth of her contribution to the industry. Each foal she left behind carries a piece of her heart, her talent, and her gentle spirit.
Espressolina’s life was one of impact — measured not only by ribbons and accolades, but by the countless lives she touched. She was, in every way, one of “the best ones.” Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will forever live on in her foals, her family, and the hearts of all who loved her.
Rest easy, Mesa. You were deeply loved, and you will never be forgotten.
