With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Hot Diggity Joe, affectionately known as Joe, at his beloved home, Bradac Ranch, on September 20, 2024. Raised from a foal by Kerry Bradac, Joe became a once-in-a-lifetime horse whose presence graced every milestone of his remarkable journey.
As a show horse, Joe embodied both heart and grit. Always willing to give 110%, he had an undeniable love for going to shows, a passion matched by Kerry, who had the honour of showing him. Even after retirement, Joe’s deep desire to be part of the show world never waned. Though left behind in the barn as the trailer pulled away, his spirit remained strong. Throughout his competitive career, Joe accumulated an incredible 499 lifetime points, with Kerry planning to earn that special final point to make it 500.
Joe’s talents extended beyond his achievements in the ring—he became a proud sire, passing on his exceptional qualities to his progeny. In 2015, Joe was represented by eight AQHA World Show Qualifiers, including Luke N Hot and Certified in Red. At the 2015 Congress, his foals shined brightly with top placings, including What Does D Fox Say, Boot Te Call, Luke N Hot, and A Hot Diggity Sound, among others. Joe’s influence also graced the 2015 NSBA World Show, where his foals, like What Does D Fox Say, Boot Te Call, and Hot N Blazeless, earned top honours, continuing his legacy of excellence.
Though Joe didn’t sire many foals, those he did were nothing short of spectacular, with around 43% making it to the show pen. His foals were often handled and cared for by dedicated amateurs and youth who carried Joe’s incredible spirit with them.
Joe was more than a champion; he was a cherished friend with a gentle soul, beloved by all who had the privilege to know him. He will be remembered as an extraordinary athlete, a loving companion, and a remarkable sire. His legacy will live on in his foals and the hearts of everyone he touched.
Hot Diggity Joe may have moved on, but his memory will be cherished, and his impact on the industry will endure.
Rest easy, Joe. You will always be remembered.
