There is a particular kind of heartbreak that comes with losing a young horse.
It is not only the goodbye itself, but the future that goes with it — the rides still waiting, the shows still ahead, the years of becoming that never get the chance to unfold.
With heavy hearts, we honour the life of Shiney MetallicFlame, lovingly known as “Hotshot,” a young and promising stallion who was laid to rest on June 15, 2026, following complications from colic. After being taken to UW Madison in hopes of saving him, the difficult decision was made to let him go.
Bred by Brian Paul and proudly owned and loved by Jenna and Dan Conrad, Hotshot was just beginning to step into the promise everyone saw in him. He was starting his NRCHA career and already showing the kind of ability, heart, and presence that made people believe his future was bright.
Shown by Billy Yoder Horsemanship and Jenna Conrad, Hotshot was more than a prospect. He was a good-minded, willing young stallion with all the pieces people hope for — talent in the pen, kindness in the barn, and that special quality that makes a horse easy to believe in.
Those who loved him will remember him not only for what he could have become, but for who he already was: a good boy, deeply loved, and gone far too soon.
From all of us at StallionCompare, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Jenna and Dan Conrad, Brian Paul, Billy Yoder Horsemanship, and everyone who knew and loved Hotshot.
Rest easy, Hotshot. Your story was much too short, but your promise was real — and you were loved every step of the way. 🤍
