Some goodbyes come far too soon.
With heavy hearts, we share our condolences to Reim Quarter Horses on the sudden and heartbreaking loss of So Dang Gorgeous, lovingly known as “Penny.”
A homebred mare by VS Code Blue and out of HC Minnie Mechanic, Penny was truly one of a kind. Watching her grow up was a gift for the Reim family, and in her short life, she taught them so much about patience, trust, and working with young horses. She could have her own ideas at times, but above all, she was remembered as incredibly kind, brave, and willing.
Penny’s passing comes only three months after Reim Quarter Horses said goodbye to her dam, Minnie — making this loss feel even heavier. Out of nowhere, Penny suffered a very severe colic, and despite every effort, she could not be saved.
She leaves behind her beautiful filly, Pippa, just over three months old. In the midst of grief, Pippa is a precious piece of Penny that remains — a living reminder of her mother’s heart, beauty, and legacy. She will grow up surrounded by love, carrying forward the memory of the mare who gave her life.
To everyone at Reim Quarter Horses, we are so deeply sorry. Losing Minnie was already heartbreaking. Losing Penny so soon after is unimaginable.
Rest easy, sweet Penny. Back with Minnie now. Run free together, beautiful girls.
