With heavy hearts, we honour the life of So Sweet Sensation, lovingly known as “Suzy Q” – a remarkable mare and foundational broodmare whose loss is being felt deeply by her owner and breeder, Sara Stellow-Taylor.
Sara shared that losing Suzy Q and her beautiful filly was one of the hardest moments of her breeding and foaling journey. And anyone who has ever raised mares, waited through long nights, and built a program one horse at a time understands why: Suzy Q wasn’t just part of the herd – she was part of the beginning.
One of Sara’s original foundation mares, Suzy Q helped start it all fourteen years ago. She represented the kind of mare every breeder quietly hopes for – steady, dependable, and deeply important to the future. Her legacy lives on through the foals she left behind – thriving, carrying forward the mark she made, and continuing to shine in the industry in the way only a truly special broodmare can.
There are losses that take your breath away. Losing a mare is heartbreaking. Losing a filly is devastating. Losing them together leaves an emptiness that is hard to put into words. But even in the grief, one truth remains: Suzy Q mattered, and she will be remembered with gratitude and love for everything she gave.
