Cutting

The Abilene Spectacular is one of the premier aged cutting horse events in the United States, held annually each January at the Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene, Texas. Established in 1993 by the Gully family, the event has grown into one of the cutting industry’s most prestigious competitions, attracting many of the sport’s top horses, riders, and trainers to compete for substantial added money and championship titles. Featuring Open and Non-Pro Derby and Classic divisions, along with a highly respected Stallion Incentive Program, the Abilene Spectacular offers competitors the opportunity to earn significant payouts while showcasing the next generation of elite cutting horses. Its long-standing reputation for exceptional competition, generous incentives, and first-class event management has made it a cornerstone of the annual cutting horse calendar.
