With heavy hearts, we share our condolences to the Lidster family and everyone who loved Absolutes Satin Doll, affectionately known as “Dolly.”
Dolly was the kind of mare who leaves a lasting mark wherever she goes. Over the course of her life, she enjoyed an accomplished show career, raised many wonderful foals, and patiently introduced countless young riders to their earliest moments in the saddle. She was not only a broodmare, but a teacher, a caretaker, and a once-in-a-lifetime horse to those fortunate enough to know her.
For the past 14 years, Dolly was deeply loved by the Lidster family, who gave her a home where she was treasured for far more than what she accomplished or produced. At 22 years old, she leaves behind a legacy carried forward through her foals, the riders she helped shape, and the many memories she gave to those around her.
Some mares become part of a program. Others become part of the family. Dolly was both.
