With heavy hearts, we share our condolences to Christine Hocutt-Senteney and everyone who loved Bellieve Hes Blazing, affectionately known as “Blake,” following his passing at the golden age of 28.
Sired by Blazing Hot and out of Bell Of The Barn, Blake was the kind of horse that defines a lifetime. For Christine, he was not only an extraordinary show partner, but the horse who helped her keep going after the loss of Bell, giving her a reason to stay in the arena and continue chasing the dreams they would ultimately achieve together.
Over the course of his remarkable life, Blake helped make those dreams real. His career was filled with prizes, points, titles, AQHA World Show globes, and NSBA World Show trophies of every colour. But his greatest gift may have been the confidence he gave to others. Blake carried youth, amateurs, novice riders, and new competitors through milestone moments they would never forget, from first leadline and walk-trot classes to first patterns, first ribbons, first trophies, first buckles, and first saddles.
He was the steady one. The dependable one. The horse people could trust for a class, a demonstration, a collegiate equestrian video, a special event, a rodeo queen competition, or simply to help another horse. Blake had a job for nearly every chapter of his life, and he did each one with the kind of heart that made people better for having known him.
And while his show record speaks to his greatness, Christine’s memories of his retirement speak just as loudly. In his later years, Blake was simply enjoyed as a horse again, spending time with friends, riding the Griffith Park trails, playing around the barn, helping with the roping dummy, and being exactly what he had always been: a cherished companion, a teacher, and family.
From all of us at StallionCompare, we extend our deepest sympathy to Christine and to every rider, friend, and family member whose life was touched by Blake.
Rest easy, sweet Blake. 🤍
