Brace For Bernal (2010–2025)

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of the exceptional stallion, Brace for Bernal, who was humanely euthanized on May 20, 2025, due to complications from a longstanding race injury that could no longer be managed. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him and by the entire team at Highpoint Performance Horses, where he stood and was loved dearly.

A 2010 brown AQHA stallion by Furyofthewind and out of Letty Bail Regis Out (by Bail Me Out Baby), Brace for Bernal stood 15.2 hands and was a remarkable athlete whose strength, speed, and class left a lasting impression on the racing world. He was a Champion Racing 3-Year-Old Colt, earning $322,326 on the track with 9 wins and 2 seconds in 14 starts.

Brace for Bernal’s victories include the Heritage Place Derby [G2], Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Derby [R], Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge, and the Bill Hedge Memorial Overnight Stakes. He also secured runner-up honors in the AQHA Juvenile Challenge Championship [G2] and the Cherokee Nation Stakes. His consistent success earned him the title of Champion Racing 3-Year-Old Colt four times, a rare and admirable feat.

As a sire, Brace for Bernal brought his dynamic presence and proven speed to the breeding barn, with his offspring reflecting his competitive heart and strong conformation. His contributions to the industry, both on and off the track, have left a meaningful legacy that will carry on through his progeny.

More than just a champion on paper, Brace for Bernal was deeply admired by his handlers, connections, and fans. He carried himself with quiet confidence and had a kind, intelligent demeanor that endeared him to everyone who worked with him. His strength and resilience were matched only by his heart.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Highpoint Performance Horses team and all of Brace for Bernal’s connections. His impact was profound, and his absence will be deeply felt—but his legacy will live on.

Run free, Brace. You were one of the greats.
