Dual Me Twice (2020–2026)

Some losses are made even harder by the dreams they carried.

The passing of Dual Me Twice, affectionately known as “Deuce,” is one of those losses. At just six years old, this handsome young stallion had his whole future ahead of him. Every indication suggested that his best chapters were still waiting to be written.

Sired by the legendary One Time Pepto and out of Show Me Twice, a full sister to the remarkable Don’t Stopp Believin, Deuce was royally bred from the very beginning. His pedigree represented generations of proven cow horse excellence, and he carried those bloodlines with the athleticism, presence, and kind disposition that made so many people believe in what he could become.

Though his time was tragically short, those closest to him knew him for far more than his pedigree. Deuce was remembered as one of the sweetest and most beautiful sons of One Time Pepto, a stallion whose gentle nature made him easy to love and whose promise made him an exciting part of the future.

For Vicki and Jim Portman, Deuce was not simply a breeding prospect or a young stallion. He was a cornerstone of the program they were carefully building and a horse they believed in wholeheartedly. Their recent purchase of his dam, Show Me Twice, spoke volumes about the family they hoped to preserve and the future they envisioned. While that future has changed far too soon, Deuce’s place within their program and their hearts will never be forgotten.

There is a particular heartbreak in losing a young horse. We grieve not only for the life they lived, but for every milestone that should have followed: the foals yet to be born, the accomplishments yet to be earned, and the memories still waiting to be made.

From all of us at StallionCompare, we extend our deepest condolences to Vicki and Jim Portman, and to everyone whose life was touched by this beautiful young stallion.

Rest easy, Deuce. Your time here was far too brief, but the hope, kindness, and promise you carried will not be forgotten.
