There are mares that produce champions, and then there are mares that become the heart of a farm. Ize For You, lovingly known as “Liz,” was both.
With heavy hearts, we extend our deepest condolences to Krista Flieger and her family on the loss of a mare whose impact cannot be measured by a show or produce record alone. Liz was the kind of mare that became part of a family’s story.
Krista first met Liz when she was just 24 hours old. Years later, after an injury ended the possibility of a show career, despite surgery, Krista was able to purchase her as a three-year-old and bring her home from university. What began as an unexpected change in direction became the start of something wonderful.
Liz grew into one of the matriarchs of the farm.
At 16.2hh and out of Hidden Radar (TB), Liz was one of the rare hunt seat mares sired by Principle Investment. Listed as one of his outstanding offspring, she made her mark as a broodmare and forged a legacy of her own. A breathtaking mare, Krista recalls that they would often find themselves simply standing and staring at her.
It was as a mother that Liz seemed happiest. She was calm, patient, and completely devoted to her foals, raising each one with quiet confidence and an unshakable gentleness. She was never rattled by motherhood – it was simply who she was.
Liz’s influence was generational. Her first and notable Too Sleepy To Zip daughter had top placings at the Congress and went on to produce multiple Congress and World Champions. Her second Too Sleepy daughter is already establishing herself as an exceptional broodmare in her own right. An Easy On The Eyez son recently made his horse show debut winning the Junior Hunter Hack. Her foals found success not only in AQHA competition, but also in the hunter/jumper and dressage rings. Liz's last foal, a stunning young Easy On The Eyez daughter, will remain in the family and be loved like her mama.
Perhaps Liz’s greatest accomplishment wasn’t found in ribbons or pedigrees. She helped raise Krista’s two daughters, standing quietly through the changing seasons of family life. She loved the snow. She loved her babies. And she gave her family more than two decades of unwavering companionship, quiet strength, and unconditional trust.
Great broodmares leave behind more than bloodlines. They leave traditions, memories, and a foundation upon which future generations are built.
From all of us at StallionCompare, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Krista Flieger, her daughters, and everyone fortunate enough to know and love Liz.
Rest easy, beautiful girl.
The barn may feel quieter without you, but your legacy is everywhere – in your daughters, your grandchildren, and in the family who loved you from the day you were only twenty-four hours old until your final goodbye.
