We’re heartbroken to share the passing of Magicality, affectionately known as “Ringo,” a standout reined cow horse stallion whose impact reached far beyond the arena. According to information shared by his ownership, Magicality was humanely euthanized following a catastrophic stall accident.
Owned by Home Ranch Performance Horses and campaigned by Gusti Buerger, the 2010 stallion by Very Smart Remedy and out of Magical Lena earned a reputation as an elite competitor — and later, a sire whose offspring carried on his trademark athleticism, grit, and cow sense. Ownership also shared that Annie Reynolds played an important role in his early career, helping develop and showcase his talent during his formative years.
Magicality’s resume reflected a horse of rare consistency and class. With lifetime earnings exceeding $197,000, and significant offspring earnings, he became one of the most respected sires in the reined cow horse industry. Ownership noted accomplishments that included multiple NRCHA, NRHA, and RCHA Open and Non-Pro Championships and Reserve Championships, as well as recognition as the 2022 EquiStat 10-Year All-Industry Horse. Even after stepping away to focus on breeding, he reportedly returned to the show pen and immediately looked like himself — composed, willing, and proud to do his job.
But to those closest to him, he was never just statistics. In the tribute shared by his team, Annie Reynolds described him as “one of the most intelligent and athletic horses,” and called him “the best horse ever.” Gusti Buerger shared that Ringo “gave absolutely everything every time you asked,” and that he had “more heart than any horse” he’d been around. Courtney McFarlane echoed what so many feel when a once-in-a-lifetime horse is gone: “Some horses come through your barn and some leave a legacy.”
Magicality’s legacy will continue through the people he shaped, the program he helped build, and the offspring carrying his bloodlines — including Quizzicality and Physicality, who have continued to prove his influence in the show pen.
From all of us at StallionCompare, we extend our deepest condolences to Home Ranch Performance Horses, Gusti Buerger, and everyone who knew, loved, and believed in Magicality. Rest easy, Ringo. You were one of a kind, and you will not be forgotten. 🤍
