Moonlight Potential (2014–2026)

With heavy hearts, we honour the life of Moonlight Potential, lovingly known as “Leroy.” Foaled April 28, 2014, Leroy was a bay Quarter Horse gelding by Only In The Moonlite and out of Divine Potential (Potential Investment).

To those who knew him best, Leroy was the kind of horse that simply doesn’t come around twice.

Trainer Clint Ainsworth shared a tribute that captures Leroy’s rare gift – a horse who made people better, not by taking over, but by guiding them. In the Senior Trail, Leroy became Clint’s “path finder,” the one you wanted to show first because he always showed you the way. He was a “trail genius,” the horse who could make any rider look brilliant – with quiet suggestions, unwavering confidence, and a mind that seemed to solve the course right alongside you.

Leroy’s impact went far beyond the show pen. Clint also spoke to what Leroy meant to Chris Harrison, arriving at exactly the right time – bringing confidence, joy, and a true education in how to win. He was cherished deeply by Laura Salome, who called him her once-in-a-lifetime horse, and he was proudly enjoyed by Scarlett Jones, who Clint was grateful had the chance to experience a horse like Leroy, even for a short time.

Now, after a life of giving so much to so many, Leroy can rest – pain free – with his legacy living on in the people he carried, the lessons he taught, and the unforgettable feeling of “rightness” he brought to every ride.
