One Hot Mouse (2007–2026)

There are good mares. There are great mares. And then, every once in a while, there is a mare who builds a family. For Voge Quarter Horses, One Hot Mouse was that mare.

The unexpected loss of this extraordinary broodmare leaves an enormous hole in a program that bears her influence almost everywhere you look. Affectionately part of the Voge family since her birth, One Hot Mouse became much more than a successful producer. She was a legacy mare in the truest sense, creating generation after generation of horses that have risen to the highest levels of the industry.

Foaled in 2007, One Hot Mouse was sired by One Hot Krymsun and out of the Voge's other legacy mare Nuthermousenthehouse, by Certain Potential. Before becoming a mother, she proved her own ability in the show pen, earning an AQHA Performance ROM, more than $6,000, and a Top 10 finish in the Congress 2-Year-Old Masters Open Western Pleasure.

But motherhood would become her masterpiece.

Her remarkable produce record reads like a roll call of champions: It’s Best To Be Hot, a Congress Champion and earner of approximately $90,000; Justa Lazy Mouse, a World Champion and celebrated trail horse; Irresistibly Hot, a World and Congress Champion; When N Where, a World and Congress Champion; Fiire N Mice, a World Champion; Don’t Doubt I’m Hot, a Congress Champion and Reserve World Champion; Straight Up Lazy, a Reserve World Champion; Heart Stoppin, a Congress and NSBA World Champion and AQHA Reserve World Champion; and still more accomplished sons and daughters who have carried her influence into show pens across the country.

Impressively, the NSBA had already recognized One Hot Mouse among its Top 20 All-Time Leading Dams. By 2024, 14 of her performers had amassed more than 3,000 AQHA points and $252,000 in earnings.

And her story is nowhere near finished.

Her daughters are becoming producers themselves. Her sons include influential breeding stallions. Her grandchildren are entering the arena. Even now, another generation of young horses carrying One Hot Mouse in their pedigrees is waiting in the wings. That may ultimately be the greatest measure of what she accomplished: she didn’t simply produce winners. She established a maternal family.

There is something particularly poignant about her place at Voge Quarter Horses. One Hot Mouse was herself a daughter of another treasured Voge mare, Nuthermousenthehouse, and she took the legacy entrusted to her and carried it magnificently forward.

For Julie Voge and the entire Voge Quarter Horses family, however, none of those statistics can fully explain the mare they have lost. Behind every championship, every foal and every carefully planned cross was simply One Hot Mouse: the mare in their barn, the mother of horses they raised and believed in, and one of the foundations upon which their program was built.

We know how immensely proud they are of her. They should be.

From all of us at StallionCompare, we extend our deepest condolences to our friends at Voge Quarter Horses, and to everyone who bred to, raised, trained, showed, cared for, or loved one of the remarkable horses this great mare gave to this industry.

Rest peacefully, One Hot Mouse.

You leave behind World Champions, Congress Champions, breeding stallions, producing daughters and generations still to come. But perhaps your greatest achievement is simpler than all of that:

You built a family. And through them, you will never really leave. 🤍
