Shining Survivor (2002–2024)

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Shining Survivor, a remarkable mare who was a cornerstone of Cardinal Stallion Station's breeding program. As one of the most valuable assets in their lineup, Shining Survivor epitomized grace, resilience, and excellence. Her daily greetings and the way she loved to have her belly scratched will be deeply missed by everyone at the station.

Bred from the finest lineage, Shining Survivor was sired by the legendary Shining Spark and out of Miss Rey Olena, herself a producer of over $272,000 and daughter of the great Doc Olena. Shining Survivor's own career was nothing short of impressive. She earned $15,487 and amassed 56.5 Reining points. Her notable achievements include placing 4th at the AQHA World Show Junior Reining, winning the NRCHA Futurity Open Prelim Rein Work Champion title, co-reserving the OK RHA Sparktacular Open Champion title, and achieving Superior Reining status.

Yet, it was in the breeding shed where Shining Survivor truly shined. As a broodmare, she produced offspring that have collectively earned over $426,000.

In total, Shining Survivor produced 13 AQHA foals, 9 of whom went on to become money-earners, with average earnings of $47,387 per earner. Her progeny's achievements span across disciplines, with $287,879 earned in Reining, $136,420 in Reined Cow Horse, $2,066 in AQHA Incentive Fund, and $119 in Cutting.

Shining Survivor has left an indelible mark on the equestrian world, not just through her own accolades but through the success of her exceptional foals. Her legacy will continue to shine brightly as her progeny carry forward her remarkable spirit and talent. We extend our deepest condolences to Cardinal Stallion Station and everyone who loved this extraordinary mare.
