Son Of A Sudden

In Loving Memory: Son Of A Sudden

It is with deep sadness that we share the loss of Son Of A Sudden, known lovingly as “Dez.” Born in 2015, Dez was a once-in-a-lifetime partner who left an indelible mark on everyone who had the honor of knowing him. His passing on June 13, 2025, has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, fans, and the show community at large.

Dez’s show career was nothing short of exceptional. Under the guidance and talent of his riders, including former pilot Giorgia Meadows and most recently, Emme Graves, he stood out as a force in the youth horsemanship and gelding classes. Whether in the arena or at home, Dez radiated grace, athleticism, and a quiet strength that inspired all who crossed his path.

Some of his accomplishments:

• 2024 All American Quarter Horse Congress: Congress Champion – NSBA Youth Horsemanship 12-14
• 2024 All American Quarter Horse Congress: Congress Champion – Youth Horsemanship 12-14
• 2024 All American Quarter Horse Congress: NSBA Reserve Champion – L1 Youth Horsemanship 14-18
• 2024 All American Quarter Horse Congress: Top 3 – Youth Performance Geldings
• 2024 Oklahoma QHA Redbud Spectacular: Multiple Top 3 Placings – Performance Halter Geldings
• 2024 Oklahoma QHA Redbud Spectacular: Reserve Champion – Level 1 Western Horsemanship

Dez was more than just a show horse. He was a best friend, a mentor, and a steady soul who brought joy and courage to the lives he touched. His bond with Emme was one of trust, respect, and true companionship—a rare and beautiful connection that will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Emme Graves, Giorgia Meadows, and everyone who loved and supported Dez throughout his journey. While his time was far too short, his legacy of excellence and heart will continue to inspire the next generation of horsemen and women.

Rest in peace, Dez. Thank you for every moment of greatness, kindness, and spirit. You will be forever missed and eternally remembered.
