With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Special Invitation, the beloved bay tobiano stallion, passed away recently. Born in 1998 out of Ribbon In My Hair and sired by the great Invitation Only, Special became an influential and highly visible Multiple World and Reserve Champion Sire for Yarnelle Farms of Columbus City, Indiana. Throughout his lifetime, Special sired 575 foals, leaving an indelible mark on the equestrian world. His offspring, including industry greats like Invite The Artist and Heres My Number, have amassed over 50,000 points and showcased remarkable versatility and longevity in the show ring.
Special's legacy extends beyond his progeny's accomplishments; his gentle nature endeared him to all who knew him. He transitioned seamlessly from the show ring to the breeding shed, embodying grace and dignity in every aspect of his life. Special's impact on the Paint Horse industry, alongside his contemporaries, helped define an era of excellence and recognition for paint horses.
In his final years, Special found solace and companionship with Daisy, a mare he shared a special bond with. Despite the passage of time, Special's legacy lives on through his last gift — a spirited weanling stud colt, a testament to his enduring spirit and lasting influence.
As we reflect on Special's remarkable life, we express heartfelt gratitude to the Yarnelle family for sharing him with the world. Special Invitation will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
