TR Dual Rey (1999–2026)

TR Dual Rey passed away on the morning of June 1, 2026, leaving a quiet kind of emptiness that only a once-in-a-generation horse can leave behind. According to SDP Buffalo Ranch, the legendary stallion suffered a heart attack shortly after his morning collection. He went quickly — and in the words shared by his team, it was a “tender mercy” to be there with him for his last breaths.

For the people who knew him best, TR Dual Rey was never just a name that showed up on papers, pedigrees, and sale catalogues. He was the horse — the one that built a foundation, opened doors, and made entire chapters possible. Shane Plummer shared that TR Dual Rey changed the life of his family, and that the vast majority of the relationships and opportunities they’ve had in this industry trace back to that stallion. Standing with his team beside TR as he lay peacefully on the ground, Plummer spoke his gratitude out loud — thanking him for laying the groundwork for everything that followed.

And the cutting horse world knows exactly what he meant.

TR Dual Rey’s legacy is measured in more than numbers, but the numbers still stop you in your tracks: a $5+ Million Dollar Sire whose influence spread across disciplines and continents, and whose offspring carried his talent, cow, and presence into arenas around the world. He wasn’t simply a successful sire — he was a program builder, a standard setter, and the kind of stallion whose name becomes shorthand for quality and credibility.

From all of us at StallionCompare, we extend our sincere condolences to Shane Plummer, the entire team at SDP Buffalo Ranch, and everyone who loved TR Dual Rey and built dreams alongside him. Rest easy, TR. A great one has left us — but what he gave this industry will endure for a long, long time.
